Washington, D.C. – Word from Capitol Hill is that newly-elected Congressman Dick Gephardt will announce tomorrow he's not seeking another term as House Minority Leader. The St. Louis Democrat has long signaled his interest in running for president in 2004; but it's unclear whether Gephardt will address the presidential race tomorrow.
St. Louis, MO – St. Louis public school children could soon don school uniforms.
The school board last night asked administrators to propose a plan by February to outfit the district's 41,000 students in uniform.
Some of the district's 113 schools already encourage students to wear uniforms.
The board plans to ask administrators to review uniform policies in other districts and seek advice from parents and the community. Experts say student achievement and conduct improve with the wearing of uniforms.
