Air conditioning back on at senior complex

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis, MO – The air conditioning is back on again in a 12-story St. Louis apartment building occupied mostly by elderly and disabled residents.

The air conditioning at the Cochran Towers complex downtown broke down last Tuesday, just as the hottest weather so far this year was settling in.

The St. Louis Housing Authority owns the building. Agency Director Cheryl Lovell says the equipment was fixed Monday afternoon.

Several residents had fallen ill, including three who were taken to hospitals, as temperatures in some rooms approached 100 degrees.
