Air Florida's Plans for MidAmerica Service Put On Hold

By AP/KWMU

Mascoutah, Ill. – Another setback for MidAmerica St.
Louis Airport.

Air Florida Airways won't be starting commercial airline service from MidAmericain June, as planned.

A notice on the airline's Web site says scheduled service to the St. Louis area airport has been "indefinitely suspended." The airline blames circumstances beyond its control.

St. Clair County Administrator Dan Maher says he thinks money is the issue. He points out that it is hard for an airline to find investors in these tough economic times.

MidAmerica has been without passenger service since December of 2001 when Pan Am canceled flights from the airport to the Chicago and Orlando, Florida, areas.
