St. Louis – Amnesty International will release a report Tuesday detailing the findings of its investigation into the capital murder case of Reginald Clemons.
Clemons was one of four men convicted in the 1991 rape and murder of Julie and Robin Kerry. The sisters and their cousin were forced to jump from the Chain of Rocks bridge in north St. Louis. The cousin survived.
"We hope that our involvement and that our report will really help to shine a light on a case that's riddled with so many issues of injustice," said Amnesty International's Laura Moye. "We felt like this is an important case to really raise the volume of the call of this growing community of conscience that are saying that Reggie Clemons's case deserves another look."
The state Supreme Court last June appointed a Jackson county judge to examine the issues Clemons and his supporters have raised about his conviction. The original prosecutor, Nels Moss, remains convinced of Clemons's guilt.
