Archbishop visits parish after priest arrested in sex sting

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson has apologized to about 350 parishioners at a Catholic church whose pastor was arrested last week on sex charges.

Carlson told parishioners at St. Raphael the Archangel in south St. Louis that he knew some of them were hurting and embarrassed.

Reporters were not allowed to attend the Saturday Mass, but a copy of the archbishop's remarks were provided to news outlets.

Carlson's appearance followed the arrest Wednesday of Father James Grady.

Prosecutors say the priest had been exchanging e-mails with an undercover investigator and had agreed to pay $80 for sex with a 16-year-old girl. Grady was released on $10,000 bond.
