Authorities in central Illinois search for killer of family

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

Beason, Ill. – Authorities in the tiny central Illinois town of Beason say none of the five homicide victims whose bodies were discovered on Monday were shot.

Rick Gee and his wife Ruth were found dead Monday along with three children, ages 16, 14, and 11. Three-year-old Tabitha Gee survived the attack and is recovering at a hospital.

Autopsies have been performed on the victims, but Logan County Sheriff Steve Nichols would not provide any other details about the cause of death.

Investigators have not identified any suspects, but Nichols said they are looking for a gray pickup truck seen in the area on Sunday night.

Authorities discovered the bodies Monday after responding to a 911 call about possible shots fired at the family home.

Beason, Ill. is a community of about 200 residents north of the state capital.
