Authorities investigating possible suicide of Blagojevich aide

By AP/KWMU

Chicago – Investigators say it'll be three to six weeks before they know what caused the death of a fundraiser for former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Officials said yesterday they are waiting for toxicology tests on 51-year-old Christopher Kelly.

Before he died Saturday at a hospital in Chicago, Kelly told police that he'd overdosed on a prescription drug.

Kelly was to begin a three-year federal prison sentence this week on tax fraud charges. He also faced a five-year sentence after pleading guilty last week in a separate fraud case, and faced racketeering and extortion charges as Blagojevich's co-defendant.

Investigators are treating the death as a possible suicide.
