Belleville woman accused of stealing IDs at nursing home

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – A southwestern Illinois woman is accused of stealing the identities of people she was caring for at a nursing home.

Madison County prosecutors charged 37-year-old Cynthia Hill of Belleville with two counts of aggravated identity theft.

Police say they began investigating in September when one 54-year-old alleged victim was denied Ameren Illinois services because of an outstanding balance topping $1,300. Investigators say that account was opened while that person was at the nursing home where Hill worked.

Police say they later found two other alleged victims, ages 76 and 61.

Hill doesn't have a listed home telephone number. Court records don't indicate whether she has an attorney.

She is free on $50,000 bond.
