Big Bend closing Monday morning at I-64

By Rachel Lippmann, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Drivers who use Big Bend Boulevard to cross Interstate 64 will have to find another route starting Monday morning.

Contractors rebuilding the highway will shut down the overpass at 5:30 am Monday, June 1st. It's the last big interchange project on the eastern half of the reconstruction.

Both Hanley and Big Bend will be closed for two months - the current Big Bend overpass is in the way of the wider highway, and must be removed before construction can continue. McCasuland and Brentwood are the main alternate routes.

Officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation are asking drivers to leave extra time for their commutes, or avoid peak driving hours. Big Bend will open December 1st. The rest of Interstate 64 will open later that month.
