JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Democrat Robin Carnahan and Republican Roy Blunt are taking opposite positions on variety of social issues in Missouri's U.S. Senate race.
Carnahan supports the expansion of federally funded human embryonic stem cell research; Blunt does not.
Blunt supports a proposed U.S. constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage; Carnahan does not, preferring to leave the matter to states.
Blunt also backs federal legislation easing the way for people with concealed gun permits to carry their hidden weapons almost anywhere in the country; Carnahan does not, again suggesting such matters should be left to the states.
The Senate election is Nov. 2
