St. Louis – Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Blunt says creating new jobs in Missouri would be the focus of his administration if he is elected in November.
Blunt was in St. Louis Wednesday discussing his economic plan, called "Working for Missouri".
He says one way to create new jobs is to cut taxes on small businesses.
"Well, one of the taxes that I call for the elimination of is called the franchise tax, which I think is onerous and outdated and is something that keeps us from being as competitive as we should be with other states," Blunt said.
Blunt says his administration would also work to solve the problems with workers' compensation, and make changes to the legal system in order to reduce frivolous lawsuits.
