ST. LOUIS –
Retiring Missouri Senator Kit Bond said that backlash against the Democratic Party is behind recent Tea Party victories, including those yesterday in Delaware and New Hampshire.
Bond said today (Wednesday) that Democratic policies on healthcare and the economy are energizing conservative voters. He urged fellow Republicans to focus on those issues rather than party infighting.
"My view is, campaign hard and remember the 11th commandment, speak no ill of the people in your party," Bond said. "But obviously that's happening, and I think that regrettably it's a reaction to the far-left takeover of the Democrat party in Washington."
Bond is not running for re-election, and will retire at the end of the year.
