Boy Hit By Bus, Dies in Shaw Neighborhood

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, Mo – A 10-year old boy was struck and killed by a school bus Tuesday afternoon.

Donnell Robinson was walking home from Sherman Elementary School in the Shaw neighborhood, when he apparently ran into the bus's path.

The accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. at 39th & Shaw, just southwest of I-44's exit at Grand Ave.

Robinson was a fifth-grader at Sherman, a
school four blocks south of the accident scene.

The bus was transporting students into the city from Avery Elementary School in the St. Louis suburb of Webster Groves.

The bus was making a right turn when the boy apparently ran into 39th Street and was struck by the right rear wheels.

A spokesman for the Atlantic Express bus company said the driver started work about a month ago. Police say early indications are that the driver was not at fault.
