St. Louis – Former Democratic Senator Jean Carnahan of Missouri says she now questions the information she was given by the Bush administration before voting for the war in Iraq.
Carnahan lost re-election to her seat in 2002 after serving two years in Congress. She voted in favor of the U.S.-led coalition's attack on Iraq after being briefed by Donald Rumsfeld and Colin Powell.
Carnahan says it seemed like the proper response to the 9-11 attacks.
"It was not a perfect process," Carnahan said. "We had to deal with the information we had. Do I wish we had more? Certainly, I wish we'd had more information. I wish more people were talking to one another and that we had better on the ground intelligence but that apparently was not the case. But there was no way for us to know that at the time."
Carnahan, who has published her memoirs, Don't Let The Fire Go Out was a guest Tuesday on KWMU's St. Louis On The Air.
