Chandelier Returned to Missouri Senate

(file)

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis – The Missouri Senate will soon get its chandelier back. The fixture was returned to Jefferson City Monday.

It fell in December and needed extensive repairs in St. Louis.

But Gary Behm, the owner of the lighting company that fixed it, says it looks as good as it did before the fall.

"I suppose in hindsight you could say that there's always a good side to this, too, in that I think everybody in the Capitol is even more safety conscious about these things than maybe they had been in the past," Behm said.

Officials in Jefferson City said the fixture did not have a safety cable that might have prevented the fall.

Behm expects crews to hang the chandelier back in the Senate in the next few days.
