The Compton Heights Concert Band Celebrates the Holidays

Ellwyn Kauffman

The renowned Marchiachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano joins the Compton Heights Concert Band in its 15th Annual Holiday Spectacular on Saturday, December 23 in the Peabody Opera House.

The  Grammy award winning group led by Navitdad “Nati” Cano has shared the tradition of Mexican Mariachi music with North American audiences for 50 years.  The nine piece ensemble joins the seventy piece band in a program of holiday favorites, Christmas classics and more, all led by Music Director Edward Dolbashian.

Also featured on the program are the Legend Singers led by Doris Jones-Wilson and soprano Gina Galati.  Each year, the concert concludes a rousing rendition of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” featuring all of the musicians and the audience.

Compton Heights Concert Band Founder, President and Bassoonist Harry Swanger was host Steve Potter’s guest  to discuss the history of the Compton Height Concert Band,  Mariachi Los Camperos and the highlights of the Holiday Spectacular.
