Democrat Hanrahan Wins Special Ald. Election in City

St. Louis, MO – Democrat Kathleen Hanrahan won a special election Tuesday to be the new Alderwoman in St. Louis's 23rd Ward.

She beat out two other opponents vying to fill Colleen Sondermann's term.

Sondermann died in February at the age of 46 from complications from a blood clot.

Joe Vaccaro placed second; he ran as an independent.

Kathleen Hanrahan (D) 1,038 49%
Bryan Young (R) 337 16%
Joe Vaccaro (I) 746 35%
