East St. Louis, IL – The internal affairs office of the East St. Louis Police Department is looking into allegations that former employees stole more than $20,000 from two bank accounts some didn't even know existed.
The accounts were set up to receive seized drug dollars, and the state panel that controls city spending wasn't aware of them until an audit in 2001 revealed their existence.
