ESL Schools get new superintendent

East St. Louis, Ill. – The East St. Louis school district has a new superintendent.

Theresa Saunders was named to the post at a school board meeting Monday night. She currently heads a school district in Highland Park, Michigan, near Detroit.

Saunders starts her new job October First. She'll take over in a district with more more than 9,600 students in 21 schools and a budget of $110 million.

Saunders is a former principal and high school teacher with more than ten years of experience as a school administrator. Terms of her three-year contract weren't disclosed.
