Fitzgerald Blames GOP for Jack Ryan's Campaign End

St. Louis, MO – Illinois' junior U-S Senator is blaming his own party for ending Jack Ryan's campaign last week.

Republican Peter Fitzgerald says Ryan would have survived the release of Ryan's divorce.

The divorce records suggested Ryan wanted his ex-wife to have sex with him in public... but she refused.

But Fitzgerald says GOP leaders didn't stand behind their nominee for U-S Senate. "This is the first sex scandal where there was no sex and the two people involved were husband and wife," Fitzgerald said Wednesday. "It's outrageous."

"They didn't support him in the primary and they used that whole episode last week as a pretext to force out somebody they didn't support in the first place."

State Party Chair Judy Baar Topinka says Ryan had misled her about what was in the files.
