Fans going to the St. Louis Rams game this weekend will see more police presence, but won't need to go through any additional security screenings.

Longtime St. Louis Rams equipment manager Todd Hewitt is suing the team, alleging he was fired due to age discrimination.

The suit filed Tuesday in St. Louis County accuses the NFL team of violating the Missouri Human Rights Act. It does not specify a dollar amount. A Rams spokeswoman declined comment.

Hewitt was 54 when he was fired in January 2011. The suit claims former coach Steve Spagnuolo had made comments about Hewitt's age.

Spagnuolo is now defensive coordinator for the Saints and did not return a message seeking comment.

Hewitt began working for the Rams at age 11, helping his father with the team's equipment. He succeeded his father as equipment manager in 1986 and stayed with the team when the Rams moved to St. Louis from Los Angeles.
