Those behind the Loop Trolley project, a 2.2 mile fixed-rail streetcar system from the Loop to Forest Park, got some welcome news today.
Funding to help with the design portion of the project has been secured via a $2.8 million portion of a federal grant. Word of the committed funding came via a press release congratulation from Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis.
"Residents of St. Louis and University City worked hard on this proposal,” Carnahan said. “Their dedication and effective advocacy has secured the money needed to complete the Loop Trolley and make this vision a reality.”
The total grant amount allotted to the project from the federal Urban Circulator program, $25 million, was previously announced.
