St. Louis – A $13 million dollar performance by River City Casino in south St. Louis County pushed gaming revenue from the seven St. Louis-area casinos up eight percent from last April.
But numbers from the Missouri Gaming Commission show that overall gain came at the expense of individual facilities.
The numbers show revenue at just two area casinos was higher than last April - Harrah's in Maryland Heights, and Pinnacle Entertainment's River City, the region's newest gambling venue. Lumiere Place, one of two Pinnacle properties in downtown, saw its revenue drop by almost 12 percent from last April. The other facility, the President, brought in just $1.5 million, a 27 percent drop since last April.
The President will close July 1st, and the Missouri Gaming Commission has begun the process of re-awarding its gaming license.
