Jefferson City, MO – Missouri lawmakers have legalized
concealed guns by over-riding Governor Bob Holden's veto.

The action also reverses voters' decision at a state-wide election four years ago.

The Senate's 21-10 vote this afternon meest the bare minimum required for a two-thirds majority.

The House voted 115-43 yesterday to over-ride the veto of a concealed gun bill passed during the regular session.

The bill now will become law in 30 days -- without the need for Holden's signature.

Missouri becomes the 45th state to allow concealed guns in some fashion.

The fight for legalized weapons has been long and bitter.

Lawmakers had been rebuffed for years by Democratic Governor Mel Carnahan.

Legislators passed a new bill this May that was vetoed by Holden. He cited the 1999 election as his reason.
