St. Louis – A federal judge again suspended enforcement of a Missouri law that requires a 24-hour wait for women seeking abortions.
The order comes just weeks after a federal appeals court panel lifted his temporary restraining order against the law.
It requires physicians to wait 24 hours to perform abortions after consulting women about physical, psychological and situational risk factors.
Planned Parenthood says the law is unconstitutionally vague, leaving doctors uncertain about what actions could lead to charges against them.
U.S. District Judge Scott Wright issued a preliminary injunction Tuesday.
Planned Parenthood asked for the injunction, to give it time to proceed with a state-court lawsuit seeking to clarify parts of the new law.
