St. Louis, MO – A St. Louis judge rules that the Wecker twins cannot go back to their parents. The two-year-old girls' adoption twice over the Internet drew international publicity last year.
Tranda and Aaron Wecker, of St. Louis, each had separately sought custody of the girls, Kiara and Keyara.
The judge ruled that foster parents would care for the children until the state arranges adoption or placement.
In 2000, a California couple said they paid an Internet broker $6,000 to adopt the girls but that Tranda Wecker took
them for a visit and never came back. A Welsh couple said they paid the broker $12,000 to adopt the same children in
Arkansas and then took them back to England.
An Arkansas judge voided that adoption, and the twins were put in state care in Missouri.
