St. Louis, MO – The widow of a St. Louis alderman who died in March is succeeding her late husband.

Democrat Dorothy Kirner defeated Francis Wildhaber Tuesday in a special election. She'll be sworn in Friday and will serve the remaining ten months of her late husband, Dan Kirner's, term.

The 69-year-old widow worked as a clerk in the city prosecutor's office for 20 years, retiring in April.
