St. Louis, Mo. – The government's plan to eliminate thousands of baggage screeners nationwide will affect more than a hundred workers at Lambert Airport.
Michael Robinson with the Transportation Security Administration says as screeners have become better at their jobs the government can now improve efficiency.
"We believe we can accomplish our mission here at St. Louis with about 126 less, although we are continuing to refine that number," Robinson said.
The screeners became federal employees as part of the government's response to September 11. Some of the screeners will move to other airports. Lambert is also moving some of its police force away from security
