A crew of historic re-enactors began a journey up the Missouri River Friday afternoon. They're re-tracing the route that explorers Lewis and Clark took on their famous westward journey 200 years ago. In spite of wind and rain, several hundred people watched as the boats departed from a riverbank north of Hartford, Illinois.
The crew will spend the next 2-and-a-half years on its journey, though only seven of the re-enactors will stay on for the entire trip.
They landed in St. Charles, Mo. a day after leaving Hartford.
