Lincoln, Neb. – A jockey from Collinsville who was thrown from his horse and trampled last year has died.
Christopher Quinn died Tuesday at a hospital in Nebraska. He was 42.
He was racing at Fairmount Park in July, 2003 in the Metro-East when his horse clipped heels with another horse. That threw Quinn to the ground, where he was trampled.
He suffered head injuries and was in a coma for several weeks. Quinn was moved in September to a rehabilitation hospital Lincoln, Nebraska.
Quinn spent more than 20 years in the racing industry. He rode 151 winners in nearly two-thousand starts.
