Minority contractors plan another I-70 protest

By KWMU

St. Louis – Minority contractors say they will demonstrate on Interstate 70 Monday as St. Louis gears up for the All-Star game.

Members of the African-American Business and Contractors Association said Thursday that too few minority subcontractors are getting work on public projects.

To get their message out, the contractors say they'll stop traffic on I-70, but they did not say exactly where or for how long.

The protest will be 10 years and a day after a similar demonstration during rush hour shut down the freeway at Goodfellow Boulevard.

Police took 125 people into custody during that protest in 1999. But this time, organizers say they are not intending for anyone to be arrested.
