Jefferson City, MO – Natural gas prices could rise this winter. Warren Wood-the Missouri Public Service Commission's energy department manager-says the average gas customer in the state could pay about 100 dollars more this winter than last year.
Wood says the main reason is low supplies.
"The concern is, with the storage inventory situation where it is-and it's historically quite low right now," Wood said. "It is improving, but unless we see it improve quite a bit, there are some concerns that we will see natural gas price spikes this winter.
Wood says other factors can influence the cost of natural gas-including winter temperatures.
State officials have been predicting high winter gas prices since March.
