Missouri Democrats' Billboards Rejected

By Bill Raack, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Democratic billboards targeting African-American voters in Missouri will NOT go up this weekend as planned. The billboards, which read, Missouri Republicans have a plan. You are not part of it , would have been placed in St. Louis and Kansas City. But Viacom Outdoor refused the sell space to the Democratic Party, saying they were deemed ambush ads that are potentially deceptive. Party chair May Sheve Reardon disagrees, This is not negative. This is simply fact-stating and informative and sort of a notice and that's what a billboard's for, is to notice people up on an event or an occurrence or something going on in their community. And that's simply what we were doing.

Reardon says haven't decided whether to file a lawsuit yet but the ads will probably be offered to another billboard company.
