Missouri sheriffs voice support for Arizona immigration law

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

Jefferson City, Mo. – Missouri sheriffs are voicing their support to officers in states along the Mexican border who are seeking to enforce immigration laws.

The Missouri Sheriffs' Association approved a resolution this week backing efforts in states including Arizona.

Critics of the Arizona law contend the federal government should handle immigration enforcement. Some also have objected over concerns that it could lead to racial profiling.

A federal judge has put part of the Arizona law on hold.
