Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Supreme Court has decided when it will hear arguments over the new concealed weapons law: January 22nd.
The law was to take effect October 11, but St. Louis judge Steven Ohmer issued an injunction preventing it from being enforced. That prompted an appeal to the Missouri Supreme Court.
The lawsuit against concealed weapons says the state's constitution bans them. In his injunction, Judge Ohmer said the law does violate a section of the constitution dating to 1875.
The law would allow most Missourians age 23 and older to receive permits from their county sheriff to carry concealed guns.
Applicants would have to pass a background check, undergo firearms training and pay a fee of up to $100.
