Movie-making bustling in Missouri

By Maria Hickey, KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – As filming takes place on a major motion picture in St. Louis the Missouri Film Commission says it's been a banner year.

The movie Bill began production last week. It stars Jessica Alba and Aaron Eckhardt.

The movie received about $350,000 in tax credits from the state.

Missouri Film Commission assistant director Andrea Sporcic says the annual tax credit cap of $1.5 million already has been used.

"This is the first year every that we've already awarded or allotted everything we have," Sporcic said.

Sporcic says "Bill" is the eighth film in Missouri in 13 months. The movie must spend at least $800,000 in the area to get the tax credit, which Sporcic says she expects will be easily achieved and surpassed.
