SAINT LOUIS, MO – Consumers who buy big appliances that are certified energy-efficient are in line for a tax break.
A new Missouri law designates one week in April every year as the Show-Me
Green Sales Tax Holiday.
The first $1,500 of Energy Star-certified new appliances will be exempt from the state sales tax.
The first holiday week begins next April 19th.
Governor Matt Blunt says Missouri is just the fourth state to enact such a tax break, following Connecticut, Florida and Virginia. The legislation also allows income tax deductions of up to $1,000 for home energy audits and the implementation of their recommendations.
