Nixon fills out St. Louis police board

By St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis – Governor Jay Nixon has named a former circuit judge and a chiropractor to the board that oversees the St. Louis police department.

The appointments of Michael B. Calvin and Michael Gerdine to the Board of Police Commissioners need Senate approval. Calvin served on the bench of the St. Louis circuit court for 29 years, and heard cases at the state Supreme Court three times. He has also served as a truancy court judge at Beaumont High School.

Gerdine is the founder of West End Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center who served on the state board of health until the end of January.

The two replace former board members Julius Hunter, whose term expired, and Vince Bommarito, who stepped down after interfering in the prosecution of a nephew on drunken driving charges.
