Police release man arrested after Carnahan campaign office fire

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis – St. Louis police have released a man they arrested Tuesday in connection with an arson at Congressman Russ Carnahan's campaign office.

Authorities have not made the man's name public. But the Post-Dispatch reports today that the 50-year-old man was let go after the prosecutor's office took the case "under advisement" for possible charges later.

Police may hold a suspect for 24 hours without charges.

The fire caused only minor damage at the Democrat's office in south St. Louis.

Carnahan's Republican challenger Ed Martin condemned the attack.
