Rebecca Smith, St. Louis Public Radio

A day after his election, St. Louis County Executive-elect Steve Stenger joins the Politically Speaking podcast to discuss the results.

Stenger, currently a county councilman, will take the post in January.

During the podcast, Stenger said:

  • He was never worried about the outcome, even when he was down to Republican Rick Stream by 5,000 votes at one point.
  • He is open to helping current County Executive Charlie Dooley if the grand jury's decision on an indictment in the killing of Mike Brown comes down before he takes office.
  • He believes small municipal police departments will voluntarily use county police in the future.
