Public Meeting Monday Night on Trash Transfer Station

By H. Wicai, KWMU

St. Louis, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold a public hearing tonight on the controversial trash transfer station proposed for Oakville.

Fred Weber Incorporated wants to build a station that would handle 500 tons of trash a day. DNR's Roger Randolph expects tonight's meeting to be crowded.

We'll record comments and take those comments back and consider those while we're reviewing the permit, Randolph said.

This is the second public hearing on this station. The first - held in June drew a crowd of 1,200. The vast majority opposed the station. Tonight's open house and meeting is from 6 to 10 PM at in the Oakville High School Gymnasium.
