If you find yourself picking up friends family or co-workers from Lambert-St. Louis International airport frequently, starting Monday you'll have a new place to spend those last few minutes before you're reunited with your jet-setting associates.

A new cellphone lot will open Monday at the airport. Motorists can park for free in the lot while waiting for incoming flight passengers to land.

Lambert already has one cellphone lot, but the new parking place is in response to what airport officials call a "positive trend" for the airport.

“The additional cellphone lot is a welcomed solution to a positive trend for Lambert with an overall increase in passenger activity this year and two additional airlines now operating at Terminal 2,” airport director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge said. “Passenger pick up zones are for active loading only so we encourage the use of both of Lambert’s cellphone lots to ease garage parking and traffic congestion in front of the terminals.”
