St. Louis City Votes; Poll Workers Get Cell Phones

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, Mo. – The polls will be open in St. Louis city until 7:00 Tuesday night.

The ballot includes primary races for alderman, but most of the candidates have no opposition. Today's winners move on to the April general election.

Workers at polling places are using almost 400 cell phones, all of which the Election Board says will be returned.

The board now has a system of signing them in and out to prevent abuse. Last year, 90 phones disappeared during the August election; bills soon totaled $35,000 in unauthorized calls.
