St. Louis, MO – The first day of St. Louis schools is exactly one month off and district officials are working on ways to get kids to class that day.

Cardinals second baseman Bo Hart will welcome students at one high school. Soldan High, a school with a number of immigrant students, is printing registration information in several languages.

Officials are also calling parents at home and trying to locate students who skip the most classes.

Some parents have threatened to keep their children home on the first day of school; they're upset over school closings and layoffs.

The first day of school was pushed back to September eighth to allow for more time to let a number of changes be instituted.
