Feeling a little down without the St. Louis Symphony broadcast this weekend? Well, we have a little something to feed your need for a classical connection.

David Robertson  and the St. Louis Symphony performed the world premiere of Christopher Rouse's Symphony No. 3 in concerts May 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Powell Hall - today, we have a little bit more for you from that night - an extended interview with Rouse.

Rouse was in St. Louis for the premiere and had this conversation with St. Louis Symphony publications manager Eddie Silva just after witnessing a rehearsal of his new work. Portions of the conversation were presented during St. Louis Public Radio's live broadcast of the concert on May 7

A native of Baltimore, Rouse has a long relationship with the St. Louis Symphony dating back to 1983 when Leonard Slatkin conducted the orchestra in his "Infernal Machine."  The St. Louis Symphony has commissioned several works from Rouse and was a co-commissioner of the Symphony No. 3.

Mary Edwards is a producer for St. Louis Public Radio's broadcast program, "St. Louis Symphony."
