St. Louis, MO – On April 3, more than 100 athletes will compete for three spots on the U.S. women's marathon team.

The race begins at the Washington University track and ends at the World's Fair Pavilion in Forest Park.

St. Louis Sports Commission President Frank Viverito says the event highlights the centennial of the first Olympic Games ever held in America:

"As a previous Olympic host, we're part of an exclusive group of world-class cities," Viverito said. "That's something we can celebrate and on April 3, we'll do just that.

The weekend also includes the annual Spirit of St. Louis Marathon and several other events promoting family fitness.
