Jefferson City, MO – A portion of Missouri's share of federal stimulus dollars may go toward weatherization needs for low-income residents.
If approved by lawmakers, the Department of Natural Resources would distribute $128 million to low-income Missourians for weather-related home improvements.
Jackie Timm with the Urban League's St. Louis office offered written testimony in favor of the plan. She says each home approved could get up to $6,500 in improvements.
"It would include infiltration, sealing the home, so air does not seep out through the home...it would also include looking at the combustion appliances, like furnaces...we'd be testing those, looking for gas leaks," Timm said.
