St. Louis, MO – A St. Louis man says is suing Chingy over a broken contract he says was signed years before the rapper made it big.
Ronald R. Gavin is seeking more than $250,000 in damages from Chingy and his record producers for breaking an exclusive contract that was signed in 1999.
According to a lawsuit filed last week in St. Louis County court, Howard E. Bailey (Chingy's given name) broke the contract to sign with The Trak Starz. Those producers allegedly then struck a deal with hit rapper Ludacris and Capitol Records.
Chingy's debut had big hits including "Right Thurr" and "Holidae In," which featured Ludacris and Snoop Dogg.
