Illinois – Weather officials say 127 tornadoes have touched down in Illinois this year. That's 19 more than the previous record, which was set in 1974. The state averages just 31 tornadoes each year.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says Illinois' 127 tornadoes account for nearly 12% of the nation's 1,030 touchdowns for the year.
