St. Louis, MO – The Post-Dispatch reports the city of St. Louis loses about $7 million a year in unpaid parking tickets, and another $3 million because fewer tickets are being written.
Some officials want to hire Dallas-based Allied Computer Services to improve parking operations. It has done similar work in Los Angeles, Washington, Boston, and Philadelphia.
Allied says it could collect $9 million more a year for St. Louis. Major cities usually collect 70-75% of parking tickets. St. Louis collects around 40%.
